St. Lucia Rundown
VIBES
Chill. Super hard. That was the goal for our honeymoon. We spend our day-to-day on the go and typically explore when we have any travel plans, big or small. But we wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to kick our feet up and relax for our honeymoon. So we did.
I had an AMAZING time in St. Lucia. So amazing that it took me a couple weeks to snap back into real life after we got back. I’ll share a combination of the things I’d recommend from our trip and the things I would do differently next time.
If you have questions, PLEASE ask! Feel free to reach out via email / DM / comment below. I literally find joy in sharing ideas and it’s my FAVORITE part of doing what I do.
Wishing you safe travels on your upcoming trip!
DAY 1
Arrival + Explore Your Hotel
I always recommend planning your arrival day to just settle in. Enjoy the room. Walk around the resort. Unpack. Rest from a day full of travel. Here are some suggestions for arrival day.
Helicopter Ride
There are 2 airports in St. Lucia but only one of them is international. IF you’re staying on the opposite end of the island like I did, I highly, highly….HIGHLY recommend splurging on the helicopter transfer from the airport to your hotel. I regrettably did not do the helicopter and did the 1.5 hour car drive since the shuttle was included with our stay. I do not recommend, especially if you’re prone to motion sickness. It wasn’t the worst thing in the world but if I ever went back to St. Lucia, I undoubetdly would opt for the 10-15min helicopter ride instead. They also offer ferry rides too.
Here’s a site to book your helicopter transfer, prices start around $200+ per person. (I know, I said it was a splurge).

I want to make it VERY clear that the type of room we stayed in along with the butler service, is what made our stay so remarkable. So please set expectations that if you book something different than the room type and service I describe below, it would be unreasonable to expect the same experience. I cannot vouch for what your stay will be like if you book differently!
Butler Service [HIGHLY RECOMMEND]

I cannot recommend this enough. This is pretty much what made our trip. Without it, I don’t think our stay would’ve been as impressive otherwise. You will be assigned 3 butlers during your stay, rotating each day depending on their shifts. So, what are the perks?
-
Personal phone. You get a phone to call or text them about whatever your heart desires.
-
Rides all around the resort. The resort is pretty big and has quite a few hills. Your butler will come to pick you up and escort you to the main pool, dinner reservations, your spa appointment, etc. Anywhere you want to go, they’ll give you a ride!
-
Reservations handled. The restaurants all require reservations and you typically have to reserve them on your own. When we arrived they had our dinner reservations made for each night. Of course, you can swap things out and move it around if you like but it’s nice not having to plan ahead for that.
-
Unpacking your bags. We didn’t take advantage of this, but your butler will unpack your bag if you like.
-
Room service from any restaurant. Typically, you’re limited to an in-room dining menu. But with butler service, you can text them your order from any of the restaurant and they’ll deliver it to you. Lowkey getting a pina colada handed to me while in our private pool, was one of the highlights from our trip. Also, when sitting by the main resort pool, our butlers brought us lunch and dessert so we didn’t have to leave our lounge chairs.
-
Personal touches. One random day in the middle of our stay, our butlers came by our room and left rose petals, a bottle of champagne and drew a bath for us. It was a pleasant surprise!

Rondoval Butler Sky Villa w/ Private Pool
Here’s a link to check out the Rondoval Butler Sky Villa w/ Private Pool.

Paired with Butler service, this room is what made our stay. The rondovals just got built in March 2025. Everything has a crisp, modern design and felt fresh.
Once we got upgraded to the roundoval, I felt like I was in paradise. I want to make it very clear, this feels like an entirely different resort from the rest of the property. The greenery here just felt so tropical and you can tell they give extra attention to this area of the resort.
The entire villa was dreamy. I really enjoyed the outdoor area, including the pool and especially the rooftop.
Bonus points for the telescope that was in the room. We enjoyed playing with this one of the nights and it was such a random, unique yet chill thing to do. Such a thoughtful element for the hotel to include in the room!
One Bedroom Butler Suite with Private Pool

So, we actually did not originally book the rondoval room. We ran into an issue that was considerably out of the resort’s control, but they offered to upgrade our room to compensate for it. And yeah…it surely made up for it!
Anyway, the first room we stayed in was pretty underwhelming and definitely felt “old” aesthetically. But I wasn’t too concerned about it because we had the private pool which was our motive for booking. I honestly probably would not have spent as much time in our room if this was our room for the whole stay. I would’ve been more inclined to go to the restaurants for our meals more often than ordering them in as often as I did. I likely would’ve went to the main pool more frequently, etc. If you’re heavy into sleek, modern aesthetics, this room does not deliver that. If you could care less about the frills and prioritize the private pool feature, then this would be perfect!
[coming soon] Stay tuned for a link to my Youtube video where I share a full rundown of both rooms!
THINGS TO EAT
Best Thing I Ate in St. Lucia

I am so ashamed to say I have no idea what the name of the restaurant is where I had lunch this day but it was for sure my favorite meal. It was the stop we made for the lunch included in our excursion. I even checked on the map location on the photos app from my phone but this spot doesn’t appear to be identified on Google Maps. Moral of the story is: it’s likely if you swing by any of their around-the-way spots with authentic cuisine, you will be pleased.
Btw, idk how they made the lasagna but if anyone happens to know the secret to St Lucian lasagna, please reach out. It was super cheesy, but seemed not to be tomato based like Italian lasagna. Whatever it was, it was remarkable.
Wassup with the Plantains??
HONESTLY I was disappointed by all the plantains I had across multiple days from multiple spots. I like my plantains super ripe and sweet back home, and for some reason I expected the St Lucia ones to at least be as sweet, if not more. But they tasted more like a potato than a plantain since they have that more neutral flavor when they’re unripe.
Sandals Dining Favorites

You can look at all the menus for each restaurant here! These are some of my recommendations:
-
Chocolate Chip Cookies – I don’t know where they get them from but if you have a butler, ask them to hunt some down for you and bring them to your room.
-
Buccan – Family style, St. Lucian inspired cuisine. (I say “inspired” because it’s commercialized resort food at the end of the day). Nontheless, everything we had here was pretty tasty. It’s a pre-set menu where everything is served family style. Customizable by having a few different spices you can add into your bouyon.
-
Pitons – I wish I went here more often!! I only tried a few items for one meal but if I ever went back, I would go here multiple nights for dinner, for sure. Anyway, I enjoyed the island peppered shrimp, grilled lamb chops, and soufrière chocolate cake.
-
Armando’s – Love their breakfast: fluffy blueberry pancakes, crunchy banana french toast, steak and eggs. I ate this most mornings of my stay.
-
Neptunes – Underwhelmed by the lunch, but enjoyed their dinner: calamari, melon and field greens salad, linguine alle vongole (with extra sauce of course).
-
Candle lit dinner on the beach – this was ok! Food was great, actually one of my favorite meals at the resort. But it was so dark that we couldn’t really appreciate the views. There were lots of bugs attracted to the lamp on our table. We weren’t seated directly on the sand because the tide was coming in, causing the waves to reach too close to shore so we sat further back. Again, the meal was still delicious so if you’re interested in the experience, I recommend going earlier in the day, before sunset.
Disclaimer: PLEASE DO NOT GO TO KIMONOS. I did not enjoy it one bit and barely touched my food. If you’ve ever experienced hibachi style dining, this is severely underwhelming. Everything is just smothered in butter, soy sauce and salt. I love rice but I didn’t even finish my rice because I didn’t like it. Now, if you’ve never had hibachi dining and it really excites you, don’t let me stop you. But I’d still recommend your first hibachi experience being somewhere besides a resort in St. Lucia.
Places I Wish I Tried
Remember in the intro when I said we were aiming for ultimate chill vibes? Yeah we pretty much ate at the resort 75% of the time. Usually, I’m out and about and wanna try all the top-rated cuisine when I travel. I opted not to do that this time because CHILLLLL, remember? But, if I ever go back, I would plan the entire trip around hitting top food spots. There’s plenty of reviews and guides on the best eats across the island, like this one featured one food & wine.
THINGS TO DO / Excursions
Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party [FAVORITE activity]

THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN. Definitely come back to this post because I will be sharing video footage from the street party. I dance around the house to afrobeats playlists regularly, so being on an island…with islanders…whining to island music…was a dream! What really took this experience to the next level was that there was every type of demographic here. Young kids who you know just came from school that day, families, older couples, locals, tourists. I spoke with some locals and one mom proudly told me she had 5 kids and goes to the street party every single weekas her “me-time.”
It’s a vibe. If you like Afrobeats, Soca, Kompa, Amapiano, etc they play alllllll that along with some Hip-Hop / R&B classics. There was a rotation of DJs throughout the nightso this always depends on who’s spinning, of course. We went from like 7pm – 12am.
The street is lined with vendors, almost every one serves rum punch. There are also bars you can pop in and out of (which is where I went to get a frozen piña colada). There’s also a few vendors selling food and random tables where you can sit and eat.
I loved the flavors of the platter I got BUT I think the lamb was overcooked. It was so chewy that I couldnt actually eat all of it. But again, the flavor was phenomenal. They also poured a Creole Sauce on it (not sure of the specific name) but it tasted like an oil/tomato based sauce which I loooooved.

Sulphur Springs Mud Bath

Bring a waterproof phone case holder if you want to snap photos on this excursion. There’s obviously lots of mud lol. I was SO glad I thought of this ahead of time.
I do think the mud bath is overrated. It’s the “thing to do” in St. Lucia so I don’t want to discourage you from checking it out, but honestly it felt more like a field trip with a checklist of things that we quickly ran through. Dip in the hot springs, rub the light mud, rub the dark mud, take pictures, back in springs to rinse off, the end. All while there’s a bunch of people around going through the same quick steps. I think this could be a totally different experience if you find an early private tour that beats the crowd and allows you to take your time and fully digest everything going on.
Toraille Waterfall

This also was just ok for me, for similar reasons. Lots of people, quick in and out, everyone rotating to take pictures under the waterfall. Also, there were so many rocks that it actually hurt to walk into the water. It was rough, my foot slipped so many times and I stubbed my toes so badly that my gel polish came entirely off one of my toes. Again, I think this could be a different experience if you find an early, private tour experience.
Pitons
We simply rode past the pitons on our boat ride. If I went back, I would definitely consider hiking at the pitons!
Sugar Beach
Visit sugar beach. This is open to the public! You’ve probably come across the Sugar Beach Resort because it is the pinnacle of luxury. Their rates are pretty high, but even if staying there is not in your budget, their beach is FREE and open to the public. I believe only hotel guests have access to certain areas of the beach, but either way, it’s worth going because its situated right between the Pitons and the views are jaw dropping.
Planning Tips
Should you book excursions through the resort?
Remember my goal here was: ultimate chill. I achieved that by booking everything through the resort. Again, not typically how I approach travel but this was perfect for the convenience! Sandals even has a portal where you can click through and browse all the activities and book online ahead of time. The convenience was cool but if you’re not on ultimate chill vibes, I’d say book with a third party.
Convenience aside, it was pretty annoying having a sandals-hired photographer with us the whole time…which means you have to pay sandals prices if you want your photos. The photographer had all of the couples rotate at each of the stops and we each hit the same 5-6 poses, then swapped out with the next couple. I’m not sure if other excursion companies work this way but after spending SO MUCH on the trip it would’ve been nice to have some of these photos included as a perk of booking with the resort. I’m all for compensating photographers, I just think the all-in price after including photo pricing is ridiculously high. If I remember correctly it’s like $20-$30 per photo, decreasing if you get a bundle. I prefer more candid-style shots so I’d personally prefer to hire my own photographer who also takes candid shots throughout our excursion and just pay them directly for a bulk of raw photos.
Reddit suggested an excursion company called Golden Ticket SLU. I cannot personally vouch for them, but they have great reviews and I love that you can customize the activities to what you want to do. I would definitely hit them up if I went back and include a stop at sugar beach on the activities list! I got some quotes for them that ranged from $155 – $255 per person depending on which activities and if you wanted lunch included. Reach out to them directly for the most accurate pricing!
Bring Your Own Tripod
I ordered a 6ft tall tripod on Tik Tok Shop. I am so glad I had this to snap our photos before/after we went out for dinner. My favorite photos and videos were taken on our tripod.
Bring a Waterproof Phone Case for Excursions
Here’s the one I ordered on Amazon. I always want to capture tons of footage for memories. I’m also clumsy so holding my phone out on a boat, in a mud bath, etc is a recipe for disaster. This phone case relieved me of the stress of damaging my phone and I now have photos from those most special moments!
Batch excursions in 1 day
I’m SO glad we planned this way. We had ONE day when we were out and about. We did the boat tour which included stops at the volcanic mud bath, waterfall, pitons, snorkeling…and then when to the street party that same night. We stayed at the resort every other day. It was seamless having one busy day and then being able to lay low every other day.
HEADING HOME
If you do stay at sandals and want your photos taken, be sure you stop by the Photo Booth next to the main lobby to select your photos. Allow time to browse through them and select your favorites.
Again, if your resort is on the opposite side of the island from the airport…book the helicopter ride!
If you made it this far, thanks for trusting my guidance on mapping out your stay. Be sure to share this post with your travel buddies and follow me on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube for more travel recommendations and foodie finds!
